HS codes
Chemical exports fall under HS chapters 28–38. Classify precisely — the first six digits are international, the rest are India's ITC-HS extension. Your HS code drives duty, FTA eligibility and the paperwork the buyer's customs will expect.
Export requirements & certifications
- RCMC from CHEMEXCIL / the relevant chemical EPC.
- Safety Data Sheet (SDS) to GHS format; correct UN number and packing group for dangerous goods.
- EU REACH registration / Only Representative for substances above threshold.
- Certificate of analysis; DG declaration and approved packaging for hazardous cargo.

Documentation
Every chemical shipment needs the core set: commercial invoice, packing list, shipping bill, bill of lading or airway bill, certificate of origin (preferential where an FTA applies), and the category-specific certificates above.
