How to export coffee from India: buyers, markets & requirements

India exports green (raw), roasted and instant coffee, mainly to Italy, Germany, Belgium, Russia and the Middle East. Robusta dominates volume; washed Arabica and specialty lots earn a premium.

Where the buyers are

These are destination markets with verified importing companies for coffee on EximHub, built from customs shipment records. Counts are rounded down; each links to the importer list for that market.

HS codes

Coffee exports fall under HS 0901. Classify precisely — the first six digits are international, the rest are India's ITC-HS extension. Your HS code drives duty, FTA eligibility and the paperwork the buyer's customs will expect.

Export requirements & certifications

Requirements change and are buyer- and destination-specific — confirm the current rules with your export promotion council and the buyer before you ship.

Documentation

Every coffee shipment needs the core set: commercial invoice, packing list, shipping bill, bill of lading or airway bill, certificate of origin (preferential where an FTA applies), and the category-specific certificates above. See the full export documentation checklist and the coffee export guide.

Finding buyers

The reliable method: identify companies that already import coffee in your target market from customs data, reach the named procurement contact, and open on the trade signal — not a generic pitch. EximHub does that end to end. Read how to find export buyers or how customs trade data works.
