HS codes
Copper exports fall under HS 74. Classify precisely — the first six digits are international, the rest are India's ITC-HS extension. Your HS code drives duty, FTA eligibility and the paperwork the buyer's customs will expect.
Export requirements & certifications
- IEC and RCMC from EEPC India.
- Material purity/grade certification (e.g. LME-grade where applicable) to the buyer's specification.
- Anti-dumping/countervailing duty checks for the destination market - verify current status.
- Mill test certificates and buyer-specified dimensional tolerances.
Requirements change and are buyer- and destination-specific — confirm the current rules with your export promotion council and the buyer before you ship.
Documentation
Every copper shipment needs the core set: commercial invoice, packing list, shipping bill, bill of lading or airway bill, certificate of origin (preferential where an FTA applies), and the category-specific certificates above. See the full export documentation checklist and the copper export guide.
Finding buyers
The reliable method: identify companies that already import copper in your target market from customs data, reach the named procurement contact, and open on the trade signal — not a generic pitch. EximHub does that end to end. Read how to find copper buyers, how to find export buyers or how customs trade data works.
