HS codes
Plastics exports fall under HS chapter 39. Classify precisely — the first six digits are international, the rest are India's ITC-HS extension. Your HS code drives duty, FTA eligibility and the paperwork the buyer's customs will expect.
Export requirements & certifications

- Food-contact compliance (EU 10/2011, US FDA 21 CFR) for packaging/houseware.
- SDS for polymer grades; REACH where applicable.
- Buyer spec on grade, MFI, colour and migration testing.

Documentation
Every plastics shipment needs the core set: commercial invoice, packing list, shipping bill, bill of lading or airway bill, certificate of origin (preferential where an FTA applies), and the category-specific certificates above.
